From their work with an adolescent caught up in the violence of inter-ethnic strife, who became a warrior at the age of ten after his family was murdered by the other clan, the authors examine the enactment in reality of the murder of the father and its effects on the subject’s place within the social bond, leading in to the issues raised by the violence of today’s youths as a “ real-ization ” of the murder of the father.

Éric Bidaud : The Adolescent and the “Pornographic Stage”
We propose to analyse a category : the “ obscene ”. We define this category as a function : in the space of the relationship with the other, it plays both a regulating and a parading role, as a way of being in front of the other, while struggling against his/her fascination.
Adolescents, in their relationship with the “ pornographic scene ”, question the body of the other, which is experienced as an object of attraction but also of danger.
Eric Bidaud, Olivier Ouvry : adolescence, clothing and visage-ification
Because the Ego can only be projected image of the subject through its multiple representation, its various “ garments ” it can only be imaginarily sustained by the Other, the Other’s gaze. Clothing and its problematization in adolescence are a way of grasping oneself back from the Other’s gaze, in a renewed quest (like an after effect of the mirror stage) for approval and confirmation of one’s image from the Other. In this way the adolescent’s relationship with clothing may be perceived as a necessary phase when gazes are recombined in order to construct what we call a visage, within the difficult meeting of these gazes. Thus we propose that clothing be thought of as the place of a process of visage-ification affecting subject and object, a process through which the meeting of gazes is played out again and put into dialectical form.
Eric Bidaud : the adolescent and the invention of one’s signature
Relations between the adolescent process and one’s relationship with language are played out through a certain « remodeling » of language, by way of adolescents’ graphic inventions and their new investment of written forms. In the invention of his signature we posit an essential act of rewriting of the adolescent by himself, in other words, the acquisition of a style. It is a question of investigating the changing status of the subject in relation to the signature joined to his proper name. This no doubt involves specifying the monstrative function of the signature and the effects of its displacements. We would suggest as a line of research a study of the signature-value of the marks of the subject in their actual formations: inscriptions on one’s own body.

Serge Lesourd, Eric Bidaud : un enfant chef de guerre : le meuretre du père “ réelisé ”
À partir d’un travail avec un adolescent pris dans la violence des luttes inter-ethniques, devenu guerrier à l’âge de dix ans, à la suite de l’assassinat de sa famille par l’autre clan, les auteurs interrogent cette mise en acte dans la réalité du meurtre du père et ses effets sur la place du sujet dans le lien social, ouvrant alors aux questions que pose la violence des jeunes de notre modernité comme “ réelisation ” du meurtre du père.

Parce que le Moi ne peut être qu’une image projetée du sujet à travers ses multiples représentations, ses diverses “ vêtures ”, il ne peut se soutenir imaginairement que par l’Autre, le regard de l’Autre. Le vêtement et sa problématisation à l’adolescence sont une manière de se ressaisir du regard de l’Autre, à la recherche renouvelée (comme un après-coup du stade du miroir) de l’assentiment, de la confirmation de son image du côté de l’Autre. C’est ainsi que le rapport de l’adolescent au vêtement peut être conçu comme un temps nécessaire de recombinaison des regards, afin de construire ce que nous nommons du visage, au cœur de la difficile rencontre des regards. Aussi proposons-nous de penser le vêtement comme le lieu d’un processus de “ visagéification ” qui affecte sujet et objet, processus par lequel se rejoue et se dialectise le croisement des regards.
Eric Bidaud : l’adolescent et la “ scène pornographique ”
Nous nous proposons d’analyser la catégorie de l’“ obscène ” en le définissant comme une fonction, jouant dans l’espace de la relation à l’Autre et de la rencontre des regards un rôle de régulation et de parade en son double sens : exhibition et évitement d’une attaque.
L’adolescent, dans son rapport à la scène pornographique, questionne en même temps qu’il voile le corps de l’Autre, ressenti comme pôle d’attraction mais aussi de menace.
Eric Bidaud : L’adolescent et l’invention de sa signature
Les relations entre le processus adolescent et le rapport au langage se jouent en particulier par un certain « remodelage » du langage au travers des inventions graphiques des adolescents et un nouvel investissement des formes écrites. C’est dans l’invention de sa signature que nous situons un acte essentiel de la ré-écriture de l’adolescent par lui-même, pour le dire autrement, dans l’acquisition d’un style. Il s’agirait d’interroger le statut en mutation du sujet dans son rapport à la signature articulée au nom propre. Cela implique sans doute de préciser la fonction monstrative de la signature et les effets de ses déplacements. Nous pourrions indiquer comme ligne de recherche l’étude de la valeur de signature des marques du sujet au travers de ses formations actuelles : les inscriptions sur le corps propre.
Olivier Ouvry, Eric Bidaud : dysmorphophobia, pubertary process and adolescent process
Dysmorphophobic fears refer to apprehensions about what a position sexually differentiated as either masculine or feminine can evoke regarding a commitment that cannot be maintained in others’ eyes. Starting with the conviction that a shameful negativity is contained within an imaginary hole in the body, the adolescent boy or girl feels excluded from social interplay and from all registers of seduction, and takes refuge in this outcast condition, thus « taking a vacation » from the trials of sexual difference. Also, the whole problematic of veiling situates the adolescent towards what we could call his « re-visagification », a necessary response to his questioning within the field of the exchange of gazes.
In this article, we will define a path which may be traced along a circle whose two ends do not come together, but which form an ascending spiral: the starting point is the real of the body, the initial evidence of the pubertary process, experiences as the Other sex (the Feminine), then the experience of shame, of dysmorphophobia, and of the creation of the aesthetic object for covering up that experience of emptiness.
