El autor propone una teoría de la adolescencia que se funda, sobre la necesidad de una revolución subjetiva introducida por la emergencia de la potencialidad orgásmica, la cual esta vinculada a la maduración biológica de la pubertad, la cual es vivida en un primer tiempo de forma pasiva puesto que es « impuesta » a la adolescencia por la biología. Es en el trabajo de reapropiación subjetiva en el cual el adolescente será conducido que hay que situar la relación del adolescente con la muerte y también a las diferentes formas que puede tomar el encuentro con la muerte. Confrontado a la muerte, el adolescente va a movilizar las potencialidades del acto para intentar diferenciar los registros psíquicos amenazados por la confusión ocasionado por el encuentro con la muerte pero también va a intentar introducir los límites apoyándose sobre los límites de su cuerpo.
