This article imagines the connections between the adolescent suicide attempt and the symbiotic relationship with primary objects, starting with the way that an adult patient is able to elaborate, after the fact, his adolescent suicidal tendency, the revival at puberty of his infantile Oedipal desires and the persistence of a symbiotic mode of relating.

This article tries to show that the notion of parenthood emerges in the context of an historical evolution where the social bond tends to reproduce itself, beyond traditional kinship systems. This should be brought seriously into the discussion, insofar as the psychoanalytical concept of drive conflict and the centrality of interpreting the transference are in danger of being forgotten. The first part describes the current modes of « culture and its discontents ». Afterwards, we will study some avatars of borderline subjectivation who rationalize themselves within a discourse on parenthood. In conclusion, parenthood and kinship are put into a dialectical relationship by being put into anthropological perspective.
The subject of the unconscious and the collective maintain consubstantial relations. They are like inside and outside for one another. The passage from to the other is accomplished as if over a Mœbius strip where inside and outside are indistinguishable. If the subject of the unconscious is the effect of the laws of language, this is not without being colored by collective productions and their institutional set-ups which, through a certain collective arrangement of speech and utterances, dig canals and confer upon it specific modes of expression. The tale and the dream, as they may refer to each other and unfold in a singular speech, aim to be the privileged means of grasping this articulation. An illustration of this is given here using a clinical research encounter, in the context of oral tradition, with an eleven year-old girl, recounting the marks of a fate for signs of a dreamed destiny.
This article tries to approach the adolescent issues of the act and its associated themes, loneliness and failure, through their psychoanalytic links with the structure of the myth of the hero. First, we will recall how Freud’s adoption of the myth of Oedipus is still a very cohesive epistemological contribution, one that still has much to teach us.
Then we will present the fundamental analogy that must be established between the circular structure of mythical causality and the oedipal process of subjectivation. Lastly, we will show that the reactivation of the Oedipus complex in adolescence reveals the deep structural link between Oedipus, the tragic hero, and modern science.
